The people of this country have now sunk to a new low. Cheating is ok, blow jobs aren't sex. What's really amazing is Hillary has a shot at being a senator. I miss Judge Roy Bean. And yah, everyone wants to get rich, so they can just get out of here. Very peculiar. A lottery world. The only escape. To what? We're in deep deep shit here Strange that you should put it this way... the "escape" part.... Recently, I received an email asking me if I'd be willing to participate in a newsgroup on alternative low-cost construction techniques that I've had a lot of experience with. Well, it's been a rather enlightening experience. Plenty of people on the newsgroup... more joining all of the time... And let's see... I'll try to construct a simulation of a typical letter: ******* Dear Group, My (husband/wife) and I have been living in Any City, USA. We have 2 (boys/girls) and have both been working and don't seem to be getting anywhere with our lives. We have been looking for a small piece of (bush lot/farm land) somewhere where the taxes won't be so high and we can keep a few (chickens, goats, sheep). We are trying to find out all that we can about building low-cost shelter because we are saving up our money in the hope of trying to build our own house (next year, in 5 years, whenever we can afford to). We are looking forward to being part of this newsgroup to share ideas about how to become self-sufficient. ************ Now, having "escaped" in this way 20+ years ago, I have to say that, if anything, it's all become even harder to "do". As far as I can see, there is practically "nowhere" that the tax collectors and the building inspectors won't find you and gang up on you. To my eyes, it's all becoming harder and harder by the day to "escape"... You really DO need to win a lottery. I don't like any of it one bit.. not at all...
