linda,
in my experience, it has been no. my friends father wanted to buy softbank, at 350 dollars a share and he got talked out of it, so he never bot. my parents and my aunt, both with merril accounts also wanted to buy, at 1,000 dollars, my parents got talked out of it and my aunts broker asked her why she wanted to "throw money away" and so she only bot 10 shares,
dk

My broker told his other clients to buy after I told him why I bought. So, I guess that makes him smart. One of his client begged for forgiveness and said to him "I will listen to you next time", and that was when 9984 was at 26k. Some of his clients sold early, but some are very very happy even now. Same same again for CHL, SNE, VERT, ICGE, RTRSY, RMBS, etc, etc.

hmmmm, a broker smarter than me??!!...don't think so!...I've learned over the years that most of these guys are order takers, not market movers or folks with deep financial views...used to be with ML, then Smith Barney of old, now Schwab...my moves far outpaced any order takers...p.s. Trans Cosmos now over 50,000Yen and trying to catch big brother Softbank!

LOGAN12: Are you kidding? The most "adventurous" technology stocks my broker owns and recommends are Tellabs (TLAB) and Amgen. I basically use him to access Salomon Smith Barney's international research and to buy foreign stocks not traded as ADR's in the US. He is clueless about the entire internet and technology sector. Amazing, sad, but true.
