<<Sure, the McCain website doesn't come right out and say "71% marginal tax rate", but that is *indeed* the effect!! >>

Oh, I see, now the website doesn't say it--just before you were swearing up and down that you got it "directly" from McCain's website and I was an utter fool for not believing you. And you took it upon yourself to calculate some horrible hidden imputed gotcha! tax consequence that you are just SURE John McCain would heartily approve of and ram through congress. Your tactic is a smear tactic, frankly. You know and I know that McCain would never allow anyone to be taxed unfairly like that and would be the first one to tailor his proposal if unforseen hidden consequences (of well-meaning innovative thinking about the tax code) became apparent. You may not like McCain but he's not a politically suicidal maniac. He has a very conservative voting record in congress to prove it. No sane Republican OR Democratic contender is going to champion a 71% tax rate for anyone, and you know it. What gets me is the utter CARELESSNESS with which you go around DECLARING that McCain is in favor of taxing people 71%!!! Yeah, and he forgot the Vets when he came home and is a secret agent for the North Vietnamese too.
