David, if 3Com did turn itself around and was able to manifest substantial growth in the Emerging markets to replace the losses associated with its legacy products, then how would you price the company.

I feel I am extremely conservative in may estimations of 3Com, using a multiple of only 2 plus its' liquid assets, which gives us a $47 a share sans Palm.

If you can forget 1996,1997 & 1998 and focus on the present and future then you might see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately there are too many people with tunnel vision that just don't want to see the Elderado.

Yes; that sounds reasonable to me, David. Would, of course, prefer that Coms continues on in the form of a highly profitable going concern; significantly repositioned for the future but not much evidence supporting that being how things will roll out at this point.

Will be fascinating to watch as we approach IPO and then through and beyond that date. Seems many are positioning to ride Coms up to the IPO, then bail and roll into Palm. Could result in an unusual discount re:relative value of Palm in post IPO Coms due to the selling pressure on Coms. Will have to watch this closely.

Best.
