Still amazes me that TI (which shows many signs of excellent management) seems to be ignoring mobile CDMA as a potential market.

Not much has been said on IS-95 and CDMA2000.....however, TI has focused on W-CDMA. They seem to already be working with both NOK and ERICY on development of 3G phones with OMAP.

They have also repeatedly stated that they have design wins in 8 out of 10 3G basestation manufacturers. Of course, they are referring to only W-CDMA when they state this.

Until I hear a cellular operator announce that they are switching from W-CDMA to CDMA2000, I have to believe that W-CDMA will be the largest 3G mode deployed. In fact.....the only operators who are indicating that they may switch are IS-95 operators in Korea (SK Telecom). I think that an equally valid question is why has Qualcomm all but ignored the W-CDMA ASIC marketplace? I really hope that the announcement of the MSM5200 in October was more than vapourware (obviously, this wouldnt be consistent with what I have seen of Q's management).....I just would like to see more progress in this area.
