Just jumped back into ATHM this am with a respectable position. I have been looking over the news for the last 3 hours and I like what I see. The street seems to actually be putting a positive spin on it also (go figure). I have been waiting for some positive comments from wall street and I think that this news will start them off. Funny place, Wall Street.

I believe the cablevison relationship is consistent with the other MSO's distribution agreements. None of the partners are obligated to upgrade their systems or carry the ATHM service.

ATHM warns in their 10 Qs and Ks that a cable partner may choose not to upgrade their systems if they are about to sell or swap a portion of their system. This seems to be case in the story referenced.

The posters on the fool thread are missing the boat if they think only cablevison got a sweet deal. Of course, the MSO's could make the deal even sweeter if they would just execute. I don't think this amounts to anything more than continuing evidence of how the exclusivity agreements are a double edged sword.
