Making a speech before an audience does not mean that the speaker endorses the views of the audience when that speaker has never endorsed those views before. "McCarthyite" or McCarthyism is usually the term used for such casual guilt by association.

Reagan spoke before the Soviet Assembly. Did he endorse their views?

As for Bob Jones, if I recall correctly, Reagan spoke there, Bush's father spoke there and Bob Dole spoke there.

None endorsed the racial policies. But the McCain and Gore media wants a diversionary wedge issue for now and the Fall.

Well, someone here previously posted an article that GWB had foreknowledge of the university's anti-Catholic bigotry and racially discriminatory policies beforehand. That should mix into the equation.
