It sounds about half of the speed that Intel recently demonstrated for the latest in their low end IA32 line.

Sounds a lot like the IBM of old

IBM perfected the art of holding back new technology to protect the higher margins of its "good enough" current technology during the mainframe's golden age in the 1980s. I hope SUNW isn't falling into the same trap. When there's "no competitive need" to roll out new technology that suggests a certain complacency which is never a good sign. As Andy Grove observed, only the paranoid survive.
