Bob, Steve, and Thread- Here's a link that points to what was said out of both Alcatel and Newbridge BEFORE they agreed to merge. Sounds like a good combo to me:

FWIW, based on the block activity going back to 11:19 anyway (at this point in time having trouble going back further than that) I'm not sure why ALA has been whacked so badly. Block activity looks quite bullish to me, with some huge blocks...I see block buys at 150K, 204K, 405K, several 50-60K. So far today 239 block trades for 7,331,000 shares. I am anxious to see Time and sales data from the point the halt was released. Sure I'll be able to get it this afternoon.
