re why cant we stop them?(tyrannical govt programs)
I just returned from a convention for my employment (Resource Specialist at a public elementary school). I talked to people about Libertarian ideas and one of my favorite quotes from my hero, Thomas Jefferson:
"A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."This is what i usually heard in return:
"Well yes, taxes are too high, and there are too many programs that I would prefer my money not go too. But of course spending on MY JOB (education) is different."
Now you can go to any special interest group and you will hear the same thing :"My special interest is different". As long as the American public looks at it that way we are doomed to get more and more government and less and less freedom.
INcidentally I have a copy of a wonderful video from the Harry Browne campaign which I could lend to anyone who wants to hear a different way to go.
