CeBIT-D.Telekom in partnership with Cisco

HANOVER, Feb 24 (Reuters) - German telecoms group Deutsche Telekom AG said on Thursday it has entered a strategic partnership with telecommunications equipment maker Cisco Systems Co to expand its phone network.

Deutsche Telekom also said at the CeBIT computer fair in Hanover that it planned to invest more than one billion marks in broadening its Internet network capacity. The investment is aimed at increasing capacity tenfold, the company said.

The Bonn-based company also said it had reached an agreement with U.S. long-distance phone company Global Crossing (NasdaqNM:GBLX - news) to strengthen its position as a transatlantic Internet service provider.
