Cold Fusion is a fully functioning development environment. In a sense it can 'do' graphics -- displaying them over the web, but it not a graphics development pkg. I think of it like a Visual Basic geared for web devleopment. You don't have to be a OO-java geek to be able to program it, but it allows for quick development and easy integration with the db of you choice. Other impressions ..

- The bulk of the code is actuall HTML that call CF procedures to extend the capabilities of the web platform.

- Packets that are sent to/from the client PC are smaller than java so that the first pass response times are much better. Also some firewalls are set up to weed out certain java functions, which not an issue with CF

- Not too expensive -- $12k for single run time server license
