I have been up and down about this same issue. I work with a former "red" chinese who has recently become a US citizen. He says that the chinese gov't will do anything to get Taiwan back. Any excuse to take it over will be used. They think that if they show any hesitation at all, the other provinces will see an opening and may want to go their own way. Remember what happened to USSR? They have a deep concern that so will go china. So they will not back down. They could care about your investments in Taiwan. in fact they would like to own them for free! There is a province in western china that is moslem and is constantly giving them headaches.....Rich
