T2, As I've watched after hours trading I've come to the conclusion that the majority of the traders are overly excited types. They exaggerate any move, i.e. when LU earnings came out poorly and JDSU dropped to 142 after hours (then hit 180 the next day!), and also the reverse - when there's any sign of an up move they push the stock further up only to see it fall back the next day. I think it's a psychology thing - they think they've got this special opportunity to make a move before everyone else does so they're more prone to pull the trigger without thinking.

The other theory is that the after hours price is manipulated by big money so they can unload/snatch up shares the next day more easily.

Either way, I'm led to think the stock will take a rest tomorrow. I could be wrong.

PS Note how this rally came right after options expiration. You gotta think the call sellers kept the stock down last week as Teflon likes to say. Will the buyers win the next round?

Yes, I agree. Stock splits DO make a difference, especially at these volume levels. Beyond the normal added press that any split gives a company, and the supposed increased attractiveness to the small investor, JDSU will be boosted into the top-10 volume list on most days in the business sections of most papers. It certainly helps to have the name of the stock in front of peoples' faces each morning. The only thing JDSU suffers from is a lack of name recognition, and this split should help to overcome that problem.
