I have a question for you mr.mark.

In the Cookie file there is an index. What's in it? How do you read it? When I try to open it a message says it's in use by another program and cannot be accessed..

This might be a really stupid question...(I am in the same category as C. Horn, as I too am basically computer illiterate)

I am sure you way of searching is the more effective or through way, but I was wondering could you just do a file search of your system for files that had been added on a specific date?? Of course I am not sure how many files that is or might be for the avid computer user. Just wondering.

BTW How are you doing???

Mark
Check this out,taken from:
<<Web Issue: lockergnome.com

ICEWatch v1.06 [12K] W9x/NT FREE

{Audio component for firewall} Now that I'm sitting on a cable connection, I have to be a bit more cognizant of what I'm doing online. For this reason, I went out on the Web and purchased BlackICE Defender from NETWORKICE.COM. It's a phenomenal tool to keep me protected, but it's not complete (yet). This particular applet will extend BlackICE's functionality by adding an audio alarm component (ICEWatch monitors LOG files for changes). Cool>>

I have concerns about this since I have seen my computer, for no obvious reason, start to send uploads to the net.

I downloaded Black Ice and am trying it out. So far, nothing.

How do you update this sucker? It seems that like NAV, if you don't update, you are at risk.

Do any of you here think Director Smithee's computer was pinged?

I know when I'm playing an online game(such Quake3 Arena)my computer pings their servers(over 1400 online last night) to tell me the connection speed. The lower the number the faster your connection. It's like a Submarine finding range through sonar. When I start the game and select "Multiplayer" the ArenaSpy browser starts and searches for servers. Then a list populates with the server name, type of game, how many players are at that server and your ping.

There is a feature in the browser called "Specify." You can enter an address manually.. If you enter a wrong number it still pings it then tells you if it's a Q3 server.

I was wondering if this is the same for all online games. Seems a plausible explanation if someone entered his address by mistake.
