ZoneAlarm has a free firewall if that is of interest. I use it and am happy with it. Tonight it is a slow download due to a new version just being released. zonelabs.com tc

good find, c.horn. however, i note from reading the 'fine print' that the free trial version (they call it basic) stops short of offering the comprehensive protection that the full (meaning $40) version (defender) affords... "BlackICE Basic will not affect your PC or Internet experience. This utility does not provide any of the active countermeasures to attacks that BlackICE Defender provides; that is, there is no blocking of attacks or malicious activity. It is only an advisory tool." :) mark
