Oh noooo - I was outside the cage. I'd stick two fingers from my left hand through the netting, and a squealing child would place a ball in the V-notch. Then I'd use my right hand, thumb&forefinger, to flick the ball into the approximate middle of the cage. The young boys were especially delighted/frustrated by my habit of zinging near-misses by the grinning girls. Last week we were at a different McDaycare, where a six-year-old girl "adopted" Helen and led her through the high frontier of the Habitrail. The Plexiglass portholes were a good eight feet above the spongy floor, so I had to jump to grab glimpses of Helen's progress. That greatly amused her - to catch split-second glimpses of a daddy wildly surveying the tunnels. A novel mode of Peek-a-boo.
