RUT strength reflects surge in a handfull of high tech and bio tech issues. Most small cap stocks doing no better than Dow. Small cap value a disaster.

Karl,

I agree and disagree. Many small caps I follow (and was long this year) have also run up to unsustainable highs, admittedly in my opinion -- although a couple of the companies are ones I know intimately through my consulting business.

We'll have to watch the RUT carefully here too. It tried to best the high set on the 18th, and failed, so where it goes from here is critical in the short term, and as I'm fond of saying, a top has to start somewhere. Is now the time, we won't know until it breaks out of the zone defined by the horizonatal resistance and support lines on this chart:

Karl C. Wenner: Well, I noticed the RUT was the only primary Indices I follow intraday besides the XOI that was up at Friday's close.

Interesting point you bring up. James F. Hopkins would have a take on it, but he has not posted for some time. I am not sure enough of my position to comment...I think the fat lady has yet to sing on that one...<g>

I did notice that the five and ten year rates where down while the 30 rates rose.
