I am sure others will have opinions, but my thot is that the way ed characterized the market is true: neither bull nor bear, but volatile with an upward bias. I am sure when options were originally invented there was NONE of this kind of massive volatility. It allows one to make $ selling puts--inflated premiums, fast recoveries from sudden downswings.
