Chapter 7 of William O'Neil's "How to Make Money in Stocks" provides one of the simplest, objective price and volume based method of detecting "distribution" in the indices I've ever seen or used. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a disciplined method of watching the big boys work.

"The stock market comes under distribution while it is advancing! This is one reason so few people know how to recognize distribution (selling)."

LG. Opinions are almost always subjective, as they are not based on data. Your comment indicates that one cannot show whether, in fact, distribution is occuring. I think everyone's been distributing old economy stocks. Heck, everyone believes that-- a lok at the charts shows that. What would be interesting toknow is whether there is distribution in the high flying techs. I don't think anyone has the facts for that one. I look forward to Lee/s comments on this.
