Steve, re: short positions:

I will try to express my self very clearly this time:

Let's say I own all the shares of company XYZ. All ten of them that is.

I happen to keep my 10 shares in a margin account. My broker can lend those shares.

You decide to short XYZ, because it's totally the opposite of our beloved RMBS. You find that my broker is willing to lend you some. You borrow 5 shares and sell them to John Doe. That is a short sale. Late every month we all find out that the short position in XYZ around the middle of the month was 5. That would remain the case until you buy back five shares from me or from John D., or from somebody else who wanted to go short.

Now, I have 10 shares, John D. has 5, you are short 5. When it comes to voting time: there are only 10 votes. If I vote my 10 shares, John D. can't vote his five shares.

And now I have another question: does John D. KNOW that his 5 shares are borrowed from somebody else?

So, I am still puzzled.

Thanks,

Mohamed

Steve, did anyone notice that Newsweek has the PSII on its front page? I wonder what it will do the RMBS next week.
