I will take a stab at this. For starters, they use a GEO so there will be a voice delay. G*'s quality is equal to digital cell. Aces does indeed have a good business plan and I will probably take a position in PSNRY soon. The unserved market is huge IMO and I think there is plenty of room for both Aces and G* in those regions. G*'s fixed site option should be an advantage over Aces for that need in those regions. I don't believe Aces has that option but I could be wrong. An Aces customer will still have to see the sat in order to connect so no advantage there.

Serendipity: If I may suggest a response to your comment:

Thuraya and Aces have a much better business plan for Asia and Africa and the Middle East. I can't see how Globalstar can compete with them in these markets. Which begs the question - if Globalstar has not found a Service Provider in many of these markets as yet, what is the compelling reason for someone to sign up now?

It is all about free markets. The sat services of Thuraya and Aces are controlled by government sponsored providers. Some might go as far as to say government sponsored monopolies. (since the US takes a dim view of those types of arrangements, many countries have wiggled around the issue by allowing (or even sponsoring to a tiny degree) a second outfit.)

Two of the best markets for G* (India and Indonesia) suffer from their respective governments best intentions and as a result no G*.

Bernie needs take a page from Dr. Jacob's play book.

G* vs. ACeS--Adding to the dialogue.

G* has advantages--No voice delay (sats are closer). Better sound quality (CDMA). Multiple pathways (because of multiple visible satellites). More reliable connections (soft handoff). Less power needed (ergo, safer). Smaller battery needed (ergo, smaller more convenient handsets). Useable over wider geographic area.

Aces seems to have advantage in cost and breakeven point.

The two services are not completely facing off competitively. They ride different points on the quality/cost scale. Also, today, they do not compete in most of the aces countries, so the discussion remains partly theoretical (important, but theoretical).

That's my take anyway.

Best,
John
