(Celtel) announced today the deployment of a $15 million code division multiple access (CDMA) solution in Honduras that includes network infrastructure and dual mode (analog and digital) wireless phones. Motorola's end-to-end solution includes switching, radio frequency (RF) equipment, handsets, deployment services and ongoing operations and maintenance support. The system includes Motorola's advanced SC(TM) Series 4812 and 611 super cell base transceiver stations, which will help Celtel to continue its network expansion as it's customer base grows. The offering also allows for the provisioning of two models of Motorola's dual-band digital wireless phones - the StarTAC(R) ST7760, 800 MHz CDMA/AMPS digital wireless phone and the SC3160 800 MHz CDMA/AMPS digital wireless phone. Both devices include the latest in digital wireless technology and incorporate a variety of easy-to-use features. Key phone features include: a full matrix, graphic display providing a variety of viewing options; and variable font sizes so phone numbers appear in large, easy-to-read text while incoming text messages appear in a smaller font so more of the message may be viewed. The ST7760 phone also offers VibraCall(R) alert, internal charger, headset capability, caller ID*, Voice Mail Icon, and text messaging. Motorola's SC3160 digital phone, weighing as little as 5.5 ounces, is a cost effective, affordable, compact CDMA handset that boast an easy-open style form factor.
