. We will probably do
an IPO of Global Center, Frontier's Web-hosting business.

Very interesting article. Assuming the aforementioned happens, any speculation as to what that will mean directly to current GBLX shareholders?

'Hey I can
afford this stuff. I don't need to buy more equipment optimizing my network;
I'll just buy more bandwidth.' "

Hmmm. If what he is saying is true, then it is not good news for the companies that make "equipment optimizing my network". Kinda like it wasn't good news for hard disk doubling software programs when hard drives got large so rapidly. Any idea who these companies that make "equipment optimizing my network" are?

Re: Network value

This is a natural consequence of "Metcalf's law" that the value of a network is proportional to the square of its size. What this means, in practice, is that disjoint pieces which complement GBLX's existing network automatically become much more valuable by becoming a part of that network. This is the real key to GBLX's growth plan. Naturally analysts are slow to appreciate this which is great for investors as they get time to accumulate GBLX shares at bargain prices. Those looking to daytrade may be frustrated but those looking to build real wealth over time will find few opportunities as rich as GBLX.

Teddy,
Great article!!! 20% of $11.2 billion is around $2.2 billion dollars in cash that GBLX gets if it spins off the 20% of GC that it said it would. That's no small amount. Imagine they'll use it to expand the network. I'd like to see the stock get back to the 60's and base there for a while..

*"If I go back to our Frontier acquisition [March 17, 1999 for $11.2 billion], a lot of people said 'I don't know why they paid so much for that one,' " Cohrs says. "Let's look at it. We will probably do an IPO of Global Center, Frontier's Web-hosting business. Now I don't want to speculate about value precisely, but every investment banker we have interviewed for that assignment said that the IPO value of Global Center will be as high or higher than the entire price we paid for Frontier."*

Sure is nice to see the numbers coming in around what we discussed on the thread. As a note, if we use today's close of EXDS that would imply a valuation for GC of $20B plus, perhaps as high as $30B, depending how it is viewed. I am going nuts thinking about how fun it will be to watch our GBLX build our wealth.

I feel poorly for the shorts . . .
