Re: "My take is this is far afield from what makers are accustomed to, and perhaps capable of building"

Hmmm. Know how many Rambus equipped PlayStations are sitting in boxes ready to ship?

Are you saying there are going to be millions of disappointed people that find their PlayStations don't work because Toshiba wasn't able to make the parts?

Don't forget Nintendo has had Rambus for a while now.

Re: "I originally felt that RDRAM would be successful because of intensive marketing by the parties driving the solution"

Rambus is successful because of its superior technology. Period. Do you think Intel would want to promote Rambus - if they didn't have to? Rambus has a gun to Intel's head. High speed processors will not function to potential without Rambus. Intel knows it. Sony knows it. Sun knows it.

I'm mighty glad I know it - look at RMBS go - up another $36 so far today!

Edit - make that $40
