'Crucial issues not addressed'-Raju,Chairman, Saytam Computers

HYDERABAD: The Chairman of Satyam Computers, Mr. B. Ramalinga Raju, has said that the Budget has several positive points, particularly for the IT industry. However, it would have been nice if several crucial matters could have been addressed considering the phenomenal and unprecedented growth of this industry.

"From the established players' point of view, it is a welcome step to increase the FII limit to 40 per cent. Another positive move is the reduction in the customs duty on computers, peripherals and some telecom related products. A welcome step is also the encouragement given to the promotion of venture capital industry."

"However, there are some areas where the Budget proposals were not to the expectations. The Internet service infrastructure companies were not given any relief. This would have been a major opportunity to encourage the growth of Internet in the country, as it is such a potent medium for dissemination of information, up to the farthest corner of the country," Mr. Raju said. _ Our Bureau
