Seems that the SEC conflict of interest concerns are having more of an effect than just Compaq and PriceWaterhouse. Now Ernst is spliting from its consulting arm, also:

Cap Gemini in $11 bln Ernst & Young merger
BY GILLIAN HANDYSIDE

PARIS (Reuters) - French technology services firm Cap Gemini agreed on Tuesday to buy the consulting arm of U.S. accountants Ernst & Young in an $11 billion cash and stock deal creating a world leader in consulting and IT services

I would assume that the rest of the big fives (Including Anderson Consulting) will follow suit.

Hi El, NW, Nilesh,

I'm beginning to think that this market is really sick.
Nobody seems to want to buy "value" or "future", what's
attractive is the "frenzy" - and CPQ ain't one...

Maybe the bubble is about to burst? I heard stories of
mutual funds dropping VALUE from their names and putting
AGGRESSIVE instead :^)

Who is going to poke the bubble? El, why don't you be the
one? Maybe the market will come to its senses after that?

Where is Al Greenspan when we really need him :^(

/Piotr

NW...... During the time that I've held CPQ I've watched stocks like CS, CIEN, AMD, and many other low lifes soar from the teens to staggering heights while the pig just wallows. This stock is truly A PIECE OF CRAP! Even some of Jimbo's stocks, like BRKT have made CPQ look anemic. What the hell is wrong with this company? Seems to me that headquarters would have some concern for the plight of the shareholders and come forward with something. The Q is now 2/3 gone and here we sit. No further guidance, not even a peep or an oink. El
