John "Too bad. The real competition for both companies will be other devices that can access the Internet and perform basic PC functions. By spending most of their energy (and some of the shareholders profits) fighting each other, they may be bypassing the opportunity to jointly promote the PC as the "Internet Device" into the future." Well said...lots of ink today on how the handheld wireless devices will be the preferred way to "surf" 5 years from now. CG

Re: Price cuts The price cuts are exactly as expected. AMD are still making filthy profits, by their standards, on every Athlon sold. They should simply price the Athlon until demand matches supply. It is only Intel that needs enormous ASPs to keep their shareholders happy.
