Ed, as painful the consequences of war are there are many "relative" benefits to a society who lost it's moral and social compass.

You are right that war diverts money from creative venture, but after a prolonged period of prosperity, human always have diverted even more money from creative venture and the hunt after riches destroyed the economic and social fabric of society.

We are now in such a period of economic and social destruction. War will bring us back to the norm and reinstate many values lost in the DOT.COM environment of greed for greed sake.

Aside could you in any way justify the large amounts of money and creativity wasted on brokers and other promoters who establish worthless DOT.COM companies??

Can you justify the loss of creativity and productivity due the obsession of all with the stock market??

IMHO a serious war with substantial losses will bring more rational thinking in today's society.

Excesses are cured by excesses

BTW India and Pakistan are a relative technological power house as a result of the war between them. Same would apply to S. Korea which is at war with the N.Korea.
