Hello Jozef,

Thanks for reminding me of your previous posts and the links. Looks like several people have reservations about the significance of 64-bit and its role in the market place nearby. The fuddsters on this thread clamor about Itanium but I have yet to be convinced.

I too wonder about MSFT's ability to crank out a viable 64-bit OS in the near term, they are probably thinking (correctly so) "If we start now maybe we'll be ready by 2004".

64-bit seems to me to be more like icing on the cake, something we would like perhaps, but we are sure getting by nicely without. If the transition occurs, it will be long and expensive.

We'll see how it plays out.
