If it's true that COMS holders are going to get PALM shares, why wouldn't current COMS holders short the heck out of PALM if it opens huge to lock in profits on the opening pop considering they can cover with the shares they're issued later by COMS?

There are about 250 million shares of COMS. COMS owns about 500 million shares of PALM. Pretty much each share of COMS "entitles" the owner to about 2 shares of PALM. Price is going to be for the most part irrelevant (just might affect the decision of COMS to sell off some more shares to other investors).

Why in anyone's name would a COMS owner short PALM?
