<They don't use ORCL DB anymore and it's simply too messy.<

Don't believe the SAP hype. Most SAP customers use Oracle DB's and many new customers are using ORCL, too. SAP didn't discontinue support for ORCL, they just made a deal to try to promote IBM. Last year they made a deal to try to promote SoftwareAG. That was a huge flop...

Thanks for the insightful response. I'm well aware of SAP recent problems & missteps with its clientele -- thanks to Larry E. Anyway, I figured if Ford & GM could come to terms with ORCL & CMRC in the picture, Chrysler-Daimler would have much incentive to join the party, but leave SAP "at home." SAP has likely brought nothing but misery to most of its clients who spent tens of millions of dollars on ERP only to see the world shift to an Internet-centric platform.

You may very well be correct -- that Daimler may be doing a public relations facing-saving dance with SAP before dumping it for more fertile pastures. As I see it, going with two software supply exchange vendors is enough & workable. Three's a crowd.
