that's interesting, though....hadn't noticed before, but sure looks like PBHG has trimmed their position... wasn't it almost 2mil shares before? that could explain the selling after the earnings release.

Re: Institutional ownership of MRVC

Tango, I had always thought the same thing, that fund buying of MRVC was just now beginning, say in the big move during the month of February. And yet, from the link you gave:

biz.yahoo.com

<< Ownership
ú
Insider: 23%
ú
Institutional: 50% (65% of float)
(131 institutions) >>

As I read the link, this data is as of, at the latest, end of January and probably 12/31/99. The page listed the flash earnings on 2/22/00 but all the rest of the financial data is older. 50% ownership by 131 institutions isn't cheese, especially combined with 23% insider ownership. I am really surprised at this number. No wonder the stock is scarce. Am I missing something here?

On another item, it seems appropriate now to use 33M outstanding shares in computing P/S ratios and market cap. This allows about 2.7 million for the Intel exercise (as I recall) and another 2.5 million or whatever is was for the Taiwan acquisition. The use of "weighted average shares outstanding" in these financial reports is quite misleading IMO.
