TD,

That bet was a layup. The horse race now is the VTSS & AMCC bet. How's that one going?

Steve

you sure did, Dave! But for 2 days (max) it looked gloomy, when PMCS hit the summits just before the Dec 31, somewhat too early and we thought GALT had some climbing to do. Well it did not (have any climbing to do, I mean). You should have held on to our bet: I would have loved losing - and try my first Maryland Hard-shells... Any place close to Alexandria where they are served? Visiting there this week.

>So how about these valuations? BD doesn't want me to discuss our take on what we're doing anymore on these threads and for many good reasons. I agreed. We can still jabber about fundamentals.

hey, but that doesn't preclude you from giving us your two cents (canadian) on these acquisitions, now does it? (hint, hint)

from the inconsequential department: i noted that PMCS made saturday's NY Times. are we now "primetime?"

speaking of departments, IR was kind enough to inform me via email and sent along a cute Extreme & Alpha building block diagram. for those who may not have gotten it:

>Maybe Uncle Al will raise the margin requirement to 100%, that will take some wind out of the market's sails!

phat chance! unless he's wont to give himself a birthday present. Uncle Al's 74 today!

cheers,
-chris.

postwords: i think someone here asked for the talking heads (uh, CNBC, not Bailey) -- here you go:

***OT***

>Remember that bet I made with Taro back in November? GALT blew up again! I guess i won by a factor of 6 or 7 fold. Never would have guessed that much that quickly.<

wasn't that a book? Atlas Farted? hate to kick a good man when he's down, but did history learn him nothin'?

flashback: Bob Bailey exits the Ethernet switch-chip line citing fierce competition.

flashforward: John Galt to finally shift focus from commodity LAN segment to the higher-end WAN market.

"According to one OEM, the average selling price for a 10/100-Mbit/s eight-port chip from a Taiwan company is below $10 a unit. A similar chip from a U.S.-based manufacturer is about $15."

d'oh!

i gotta better (zero-sum) game: GALT versus MMCN.

let's go six months out and instead of wagering crabs how 'bout kosher hot dogs at Yankee Stadium? that'll be mid-september and the pups will be cooking since spring training.

the winner buys and the loser eats. mustard, onions and 'kraut on mine, please.

-chris.

postwords: speaking of buns, is yours done yet? <vbg>
