RE: <I think AMD or one of its partners should offer a free exchange for any owner of a 1 GHz PeeWeeIII. They could get either a cryo-cooled 1.2 GHz system or a plain old Spry Athy 1 GHz system. Then donate the 1 GHz Intel systems to universities. The publicity would be worth it.>

LOL! I think that sounds good! and you're right the publicity would be great while also showing this paper launch for what it really :)

In my opinion this launch is Intel's way of attacking AMD's reputation and nothing more, that article flat out admits that very few people (read almost no-one) will be able to get their hands on a 1GHz coppermine. I think that Intel relized that they had fallen behind and their ability to deliver and reputation as a company was in jeopardy. If they were going to lose it anyway why not bait AMD into jumping the gun on their 1GHz release and make AMD look like they were unreliable and unable to deliver as well. Intel had nothing to lose because they were losing it anyway. But AMD has an improving reputation to protect. I desperately hope that they scoff at this release and stay the course.

Thanks,
