Tony,

No need to duck for cover from this camp....I don't know one person who doesn't have skeletons in his/her closet.....big, large, small, or tiny...it doesn't matter we ALL have 'em.....yours were just made public.....personally I've heard of your actions in the early 90's, but I've only judged you on what you have become in the late 90's....and you okay by me....good luck in the future...just turn the page and get on with it....we all have a few chapters in our life that would be better, if we could re-write them...time to move on.....

We need you here, not just for the shorts (and a few longs) but for the thoughts and yes, wisdom, you have provided re: using one's intellect for seeing the forest from the trees and having compassion for those who have less than others through no fault of their own.

Anthony,

There is no higher calling in life than to be a teacher. Yeah you've made us all a ton of money, but most importantly you have taught us. That is something none of your critics can claim.

I think I can speak for most of us here when I say: we consider you family. Our feelings for you and about you will endure. You will also endure, because any help you need is available from us - your second family.

Hey Man, it's like this...if you did something wrong, and you are remorseful about it....that's good enough. There are so many assholes running around in this world that do nothing BUT wrong and will never acknowledge that they were wrong, that you should be proud of yourself for your integrity. Whatever happens, you are in my prayers, and I will do whatever I can to help out. Just let me know. Best wishes and keep your head up.

I am glad you did!! "This past week..I did something that I never thought I would do. I gave up fighting."
Your time is TOO valuable for all of us here, that you should spend it fighting a bureaucracy!
And if you have any time left in your busy schedule, you are much better of spending it with your family. That will be the best investment you can make, and it comes with large dividends.

You have redeemed yourself many times over, just don't think of it as capitulation, certainly I will not.
Spend the time you saved fighting it, to take your family on a holiday, ENJOY, March break is coming up

Without you here , this thread becomes a ------->wasteland?

There is an art to shorting, of which you have taught
many fine lessons here.... in sudden gusts and blowing winds
that sucked too many traders up, you were there to call the scam, to ring the bell,to bring out "The Can" of whoop~ass
down! But more reasonably and seasonably you have apeared to be, and as this is a most intriguing game to learn , I for one will miss your peronality and articularity!

In a way you are a rarity, and made these times some of the most exciting in which to be.

Can it be , SI will be a better place without your voice ringing in it's halls? Lot's of new changes and hopefully
many for the better, in terms of Peace await you.

Thanks for the "long" picks Tony, and sure many will
miss your company, and abilty to stir things up. That's
the only way , people can really learn---> with focus & intensity!

Peace,

Mars

"I am confident that my critics will jump on this oppurtunity to harass and to attack me. However I believe that they will fail in trying to bring attention to themselves at my expense. I hope to be judged by my actions and words here and now. Not what I said and did 6 years ago."

I guess I qualify as a critic, but for all of that, it is not easy to say "mea culpa", and you will be a better person for it. I hope that as you examine the things that make for a good night's sleep, you will ask yourself about the other "exceptions" to your sence of "doing the right thing".

Yet, it has been six+ years, and during all this time, you have known in your heart that you were guilty while professing your innocence and telling all that you are being railroaded. Anthony, it's time to grow up and pay the piper.

There are other people that you have hurt along the way - are you ready to admit that? are you ready to plead guilty? are you ready to face Allah and tell him the Truth? The Catholic church gives redemption for admission of sins and penance, perhaps a different approach from the Muslim religion, but those who have suffered because of your actions may be satisfied by a small step - asking forgiveness and making amends.

Anthony, you know what you have done. So does your Diety.

Seek restitution - make good on what you have done bad... you know what this involves. This is only the tip of the mountain on what you have done --- All might be well were you to be REALLY humble.

It is time ... You'll feel better, and gain a lot of respect.

You're a smart guy - you should know better.

You have hurt many many people Tony and have taken advantage of many along the way. From what I hear this is only the tip of the iceburg as far as your legal problems go and I will be watching to see you work through them as well!

For all of you out there that love and worship Tony go ahead and bash me, but someday you will realize whom Tony is all about. Anthony, what you have done is one of the hardest things to do. Most people would shy away from even speaking about it at all. They would do everything not to acknowlege it. They would do whatever they could to make up reasons other than explain what was going on.

Admitting that you suffered from depression publically is still a taboo, in a society that dwells in surface level depths and constrained by sheepish political correctness. People can get themselves in a tizzy and say "see see" about your legal matter, but most of them live in unexamined lives, existing deep within the herd.

What strikes me most about this matter is the time period involved, and some of the circumstances that are known on the public record.

Why in America, does a case that boils down to IMO....you making bonehead mistakes related to a medical conditon... take full 6 years to bring up? Talk about a high profile "gotcha" on miniscul substance.

It is also my understanding that both the Judge and Procecutor either resigned because of acknowleged bias or gross conduct. It was also reported that legal experts believed this to be a civil matter between a private insurer and you. I am no expert in this particular case I just understand what I have read....nevertheless it smells like you have been singled out intentionally.

It bothers me that government resources are being utilized not for the general well-being of the comunity but instead to muck-rake 6 years into past event.

I read thestreet.com's article and was in awe of the complete absurdity of the connection that Beth Kwon attempted to draw. Here was Beth's argument paraphrased IMO:

"Since Anthony was struggling with personal difficulties as a young man, that are now in courts after 6 years, can his investment opinions be worthwhile now?"

A trully pathetic argument, there is no relationship between the comparison being offered. At no point does Beth establish why the reader should be concerned.

What Beth Kwon offer.....quoting her article: "Sure, a disability dispute doesn't have much to do with stock trading. But it's at least embarrassing for someone who champions the cause of investors in digging up frauds to be himself accused of mail fraud."

There is, the muck has been raked and now thrown!
Beth's arguement will be the same as others that will rant here on SI. NOTHING TO DO WITH SECURITES, BUT EMBARASSING.

In Asia there is a saying, "The nail that sticks out, gets hammered in".

But Helen Keller said this,
"Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exit in nature....
life is either a daring adventure
or nothing"

Cheers to you Tony,
wolff

PS: yah long winded I know, but its better than watching informercials when you ain't been sleeping right.

Your message implies that since you 'gave up fighting' and 'capitulated' that you were not guilty of the crime.

Did you break the law?

If you did, then you are guilty, and the people that prosecuted you did the right thing, and the wisest thing to do if you really want to move ahead is to admit to yourself that you broke the law, and not to continue to imply that some injustice was done to you.

If you did it, then you are responsible for what happened to you; not somebody else. You.

Dig: people who refuse to accept the consequences that result from their own actions may not be the best people to seek advice from, eh?

Very simple.

Hey A@P...i'm kinda sorry to hear about the conviction..but...we all live in america and are all subject to the laws of society...if ya broke the law...
you have to stand up,suck it up,and take whatever the laws of the land lays on ya..that is the price that we pay for
living in the land of the free...nobody is above the law...
you have taught hundreds of traders how to capitalize on the timing in the stockmarket...and..there are many who are thankful to ya for that...but...that has nothing to do with what ya did...

so..stand up tall..take it on the chin...and be glad that you live in the usa...

Interesting post and even more interesting responses. I suspect you will make a deal this time, too. Hopefully, after 10-65 years of soul searching , you will change those standards that you held so dear.

Notwithstanding all the people who have been harmed by you and your "Enterprise", your children are also innocent victims - you should be ashamed of what your actions have done to your loved ones. You sold their innocence to the devil for a Rolls Royce. Fame and fortune can be fleeting even when legally acquired.

Best of luck to your children. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that you had millions hidden away to be used for their benefit. I am sure the DOJ will be watching the source of the funds that are used for their benefit. Those millions can't take the place of having a father that they could respect who would guide them and nurture them into adulthood.

I hope the pen reforms you this time.
