Of course the technology makes sense. However, I have not seen a projection of income stream. Have you? Also, I see Craig McCaw is taking over Icos and Iridium, so I wonder how much market there is for both companies.

Cosmo,

10 bucks a minute? That's good information. If I'm not mistaken, Iridium isn't even available in many such, or other still high priced quarters- is that right?

Perhaps a solar powered phone booth in a village?

I've made a phone call from a solar powered phone booth in Mexico (near the border of Belize). The phone booth was just outside a little building filled with car batteries, a dish on the roof, and had a solar panel, about 10 by 20 feet, which acted as the front porch (there were tables and chairs under it and you could get fish tacos and beer from a vendor). You would come by in the afternoon and sign up for a time slot, At sundown they would open up the booth and you could drink beer until it was your turn to use the phone. They made calls until the batteries went low and then it closed down until the next evening.
