"if you own COMS shares prior to distribution"

My point is, what if you buy it (COMS) the day after, do you still get the PALM shares. That's what is confusing.

Forgive my ignorance? What do you mean by "tax free"?
How does it matter to us?

I have large position in COMS, mostly at 65. Some at
80, some at 98. Todays selloff just does not make any
sense to me. I am holding all my shares. Hope market
will see the reality and take COMS to where it should
be, that is, 1.5*PALM+30 = 180+
