Serious: Thanks. We can speculate all day about the discrepancy and it might be entertaining but the media will be full of opinions on what is going on with Palm/Coms over the next few days so I'm kickin' back until I can get a clearer view.

Best.

Amir:

I have a WSJ online subscription and I can't find the article you cited. Could you post a better pointer w/o violating copyright?

Thanks, David T.

Good post. In other words, this is a First Principle:

After 3/2/2000 COMS should not trade below price of 1.5 PALM shares, less a discounted factor for time and remote uncertainty, plus the intrinsic value of COMS sans PALM.

Why is this so hard for the media and other types to grasp?

From WSJ: Is the market telling us those other 3Com businesses are worth a negative $62 a share?

No, I think the market is saying that there is uncertainty about 1) the valuation of PALM six months from now (if in six months PALM trades below IPO price, then COMS will not be worth more than it is trading for today), and 2) whether 3COM will actually distribute PALM then (or ever).

I am confident that these uncertainties can be discounted making this a great buying opportunity for COMS.
