RE: <From the above, I am having trouble figuring out launch dates for the new cumine chips. It must be all the technical language that makes it unclear.>

Ted,

Let me explain it for you ;) Intel is saying that they might release the incremental speed grades between 800MHz and 1GHz but they sure as hell will be releasing 1GHz. Once again, ROTFLMAO. I can't believe Intel is stooping this low. Tell me when in the past Intel would have improved their process and gotten a "frequency and availability jump" (according to Elmer) and used it to release 4 chips at once in admittedly limited quantities thus having the effect of reducing the asp's and demand for the chips that they actually are producing production volumes of? According to Elmer that isn't desperate! LMAO! :)

Thanks,

Epinephrine

PS: Sorry that I am blowing up over here but my noodle is baked! :)

ted,

re:"From the above, I am having trouble figuring out launch dates for the new cumine chips."

I had posted this earlier:

dell.com

The 850 and 866 Floppermine is listed.

So I would guess that the 850 and 866 will be out soon after the 1gig announced today.

My noodle is fried too. My hair is beginning to hurt.
And it will only get funnier/worse when the rest of the Intel tag team wrestling partners get here tonight.

Make it so,
CamiNoGo

From the above, I am having trouble figuring out launch dates for the new cumine chips.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Intel Corp. will formally launch its 1-GHz Pentium III microprocessor on next Wednesday(March 8), according to sources as computer manufacturers.

The launch, to be backed by Dell Computer Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., and IBM Corp., will almost certainly come in the form of limited-production "special editions," according to the sources, who said they were briefed by Intel. PCs using the chips will feature specially designed motherboards with larger heat sinks to accommodate the faster processors.
