OT Since we have a quiet board this evening, anyone interested in buying Microsoft. I got a feel it will be an easy double by year end. It should also be a lot safer as a stock play. The legal problems have bashed the stock. It has a lot catching up to do.
Considering it had a positive news release this evening Window2000, I would have expected the Nasdaq futures to move to positive. This is one of those I wish i had an account to trade the futures.

Intel also looks to go up significantly this year---a no brainer, IMHO.

I am interested in others' comments. After all it is quiet evening on this thread.

Hi t2:
I was active buying more JDSU Sept calls on the mid-day dip and on the close.
I'm still bullish and think it is going to go even wilder!

Rick

Since it's quiet tonight, just a quick comment about the recent shrinking--and then, expansion--of the gap between JDSU and ETEK. Yesterday the following report came out. It must have been about 3pm EST because the volume in ETEK increased dramatically then.

Early Antitrust Clearances Approved By FTC

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The following is a list of companies or persons that the Federal Trade Commission has cleared of antitrust concerns in connection with the proposed purchase of assets or common stock: (Source - Federal Filings Business News)

Acquiring person or company.....Entity acquired

Michael J. Fitzpatrick......JDS UNIPHASE CORP.
Sanjay Subhedar.....JDS UNIPHASE CORP.
Ming Shih.....JDS UNIPHASE CORP.
SDL INC......Veritech Microwave Inc.

The above companies or persons were granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. The termination date is 02/28/2000. The FTC provides no further information on these transactions.

The Hart-Scott-Rodino Act generally requires investors to notify the Federal Trade Commission if they intend to acquire a minimum of 15% of a company's outstanding shares, or, stock or assets valued at a minimum of $15 million.

The statute is designed to enable the FTC to review proposed mergers and acquisitions for possible violations of the antitrust laws. The FTC frequently grants "early termination" of the waiting period required by law.

When this came out and mentioned JDSU, I bet a lot of people thought it referred to the ETEK merger. By this morning, they realized it didn't, and ETEK sold off.

Also, note SDLI got quick approval of their purchase of Veritech.
