I agree with your point about voice and data. Many of these carriers do indeed view themselves as glorified CLECs, rather than true data providers. Note ARCC's announcement today with Enron, as a case in point. regarding deployment, it is far easier to string fiber in the building once the agreements are in place than to go out and get ROW overlays, or to go to property owners (RRs, utility cos, etc.). Therefore technicians and engineers are less of an issue, as the space is available on the riser/elevator shafts. A key bottleneck, IMHO, is in the "broadband supers" who must maintain the relationship, as it is true that many of these landlords are opening up the buildings to multiple providers. But for now, it appears to be a land grab.
