McCaw deciding not to invest in Iridium is certainly big news, but it doesn't mean we can count Iridium out quite yet. Their system is up and running, it is quite likely that someone is going to operate it. If it's not going to be McCaw, that could eventually mean that there will be two global competitors for Globalstar rather than one. (I think it's more certain, actually, that we will face competition from Iridium than from ICO. Whether ICO and Teledesic will ever materialize is still seriously open to question.)

I agree. With McCaw walking away from Iridium, I suspect that condemns the I* system to a complete shutdown. All their customers -- 65K, if the rumors on this and the Yahoo board are to be believed -- should be easy pickin's for G*.
