unclewest: That's a pretty powerful statement....CREE has been one of my best investments this year (at the moment it's my #2 holding). IMO, it has MUCH more upside than QCOM. Compare the market caps and projected growth rates. On the other hand there clearly may be more risk with CREE. Yet, I am willing to accept that.

When do predict that CREE may announce a split?

uncle, I like your thinking!

Just how much does QCOM make on each cell phone anyway? For CREE, 16 LEDs at $.25 is $4 revenue times margin of say 50% is $2 profit per phone. Only caveat is that Cree's LEDs are not in every cell phone - OTOH not every cell phone is CDMA either. We need market penetration numbers and forecasts.
