PNG: ExxonMobil Plugs Gas Into Pipeline - Australian Financial Review, March 8

ExxonMobil has changed its negative approach to the Papua New Guinea (PNG)-to-Queensland gas pipeline project in early March 2000. The participation of ExxonMobil in the ambitious gas pipeline project is considered vital to its development. ExxonMobil owns a 50% share of the Hides gas field in PNG's southern highlands and through the merger with Mobil, holds a stake in the Kutubu oil fields. Negotiations with Chevron Corporation, Oil Search Limited and other companies involved in the PNG gas pipeline are believed to have secured an "in-principle" agreement from ExxonMobil to add its gas reserves to the venture.
