I hope it's obvious that I think that it's a great idea. I think such a move is in keeping with the goal, and scope, of making the markets more efficient.

I'm sure that such could occur; as many of you know - and, as I'm sure the media improperly assumes - it WOULDN'T require, and most likely would not contemplate - any integration, merger, or elimination of either the NYSE floor/specialist system or NASDAQ's dealer market.

NASDR and NYSER are two subsidiary non-profit corporations which regulate, under mandate of the SEC and the Mahoney Act, their respective broker-dealer members. I - and many others feel - that they could and should do so as one combined regulatory body.
