Filbert,

Drove by an ARCO station in San Leandro (Bay Area East Bay). Selling regular unleaded for $1.59. Long line to get that price! Shell and Chevron asking about $1.79.

In a pathetic way we here in the Bay Area are getting over. Recall last year we were paying $1.80 while the rest of the country was under $1. Not sure if the reason was ever truly clarified, but it's good to see that the Bay Area is now in line with the rest of the country.

BTW, My wife and I were looking houses yesterday. 2BR, 1500 sq. ft. in Alameda, built in 1940. 3900 sq. ft. lot. Asking $359,000. Our realtor indicated we'd better be prepared to offer $20,000 to $30,000 over the ask if we wanted it.

Of course the Peninsula is much worse.

Where do you live??
