It's not surprising to me that AMD is announcing a 1 GHz chip. However, I'm quite happy that AMD is now reacting to Intel's moves, with Intel clearly taking the proactive leadership role. Quite a change from last year when it seemed Intel had to play catch-up to AMD.

Well Compaq and Gateway have now announced AMD 1GHz systems at attractive prices.

Intel are leaving it a bit late to take the wind out of AMD's sails aren't they?
