hdl,
Hi!!

RE: taxes

Yes...what states? I don't care to research this and don't recall what the bill payments told me when I ordered...
As for the corporate angle...I surely don't have the expertise to discuss this...
Sorry for the lack of knowledge...Have you bought any DELL yet?
:o)

Best, Kemble

hdl,

The Congress for ridiculous reasons has not taxed internet sales by having the vendor collect the tax.

This is quite an oddity, and rather perverse IMO. The reasoning seems to be to encourage a fledgling technology, but it seems to me to create an economic advantage for one group of businesses at the expense of other businesses. The economic effect is to raise the tax burden on those businesses subject to state and local sales tax. There was a pretty good tongue-in-cheek op-ed piece about this in last week's NY Times.

What surprises me is that when we recently purchased our new Dell, sales tax was included in spite of the fact that to my knowledge, Dell has no presence in the sate of Washington.

TTFN,
CTC
