France's Vivendi and Japan's Softbank to create Internet firm

French conglomerate Vivendi said on Sunday it was creating an Internet company together with Japanese Internet investor Softbank aimed at serving businesses in the energy field.
In a Vivendi statement, Vivendi subsidiary Sithe Energies will also be involved in creating the new firm, to be called K Road Ventures, and to be headed by Sithe Energies chief executive officer William Kriegel.

Initial investment in K Road ventures will be $30 million and capital will be owned in equal shares by Vivendi, by Softbank, by Sithe Energies and by the new firm's management.

"Sithe's industrial success in the energy field and the power of Softbank and Vivendi in the Internet field are powerful assets for K Road ventures," the statement said.
